Valencia is soon to officially announce the signing of Serbian point guard Stefan Jovic, and the amount the Spanish club will pay for his signature is known.
After a few years’ hiatus, it appears that the experienced Serbian national team guard will return to the EuroLeague. Reports suggest that Stefan Jovic is in the final stages of negotiations with the Mediterranean coast team.
Valencia will pay Zaragoza €250,000 to cover the compensation, and according to Encestando, Zaragoza is already actively searching for a replacement for Jovic.
Jovic had a fantastic FIBA World Cup performance. With the Serbian national team, he reached the final but was defeated by Germany. He averaged 5.9 points, 2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, with his standout performance coming against Lithuania in the quarterfinals.
Interestingly, the Serbian player holds the EuroLeague record for the most assists in a single game. In a match against Bayern in 2015, he recorded a remarkable 19 successful assists. He has previously played for Bayern, Khimki, and Panathinaikos.
Valencia has already signed several players this summer, including Brandon Davies, Kassius Robertson, Semi Ojeleye, Damien Inglis, Nathan Reuvers, and Boubacar Toure. They have also extended the contract of Jared Harper, who was one of the team’s standout performers last season.
