Besiktas couldn’t match Buducnost’s success
Buducnost was led by Yoan Makoundou and Allerik Freeman with 21 and 15 points, respectively, while John Shurna stood out for the visitors with 17 points.
Besiktas, coached by Dusan Alimpijevic, suffered their third consecutive defeat in the competition, as they were convincingly beaten by Hapoel Tel Aviv 94-73 on neutral ground in Ljubljana.
While the home team was nominally competitive in the first half, this wasn’t the case in the second half. The black and whites lacked inspiration, which their opponent capitalized on, building a 17-point lead at one point, sealing Besiktas’s fate.
Tomer Ginat and Will Cummings were the standout performers for the Israelis with 16 points each, while Angel Delgado contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for Besiktas.
In the most uncertain game, Aris defeated Trento 84-77, led by Vasileios Toliopoulos with 17 points and Ronnie Harrell with 15 points. Kamar Baldwin was the top scorer for the Italians with 20 points.
Quarterfinal matchups: London Lions vs. Turk Telekom, Prometey vs. Aris, Ulm vs. Joventut, Gran Canaria vs. Besiktas.
