The Minnesota Timberwolves were defeated in the Western Conference finals by the Dallas Mavericks, but they are already making moves for the next season.
According to “The Athletic” journalist Jon Krawczynski, the Timberwolves will retain Tim Connelly as their President of Basketball Operations for the next season. He has an opt-out clause at the end of the following season.
Tim Connelly is renowned as the architect of the Denver Nuggets and also the Minnesota Timberwolves, who eliminated Nikola Jokic and his team from this year’s NBA playoffs after seven games.
The Minnesota Timberwolves were described as a team “built to outplay the Denver Nuggets.” They succeeded in that endeavor but fell just short of reaching the NBA Finals. Connelly spoke after the elimination, and his comment about Anthony Edwards and future plans is interesting:
“We want Anthony Edwards to become a player who will play an average of 44 minutes, lead the Minnesota Timberwolves’ offense, and guard the opponent’s best player.”
