Virtus tied the series 1-1 against Milan with a 72:64 victory on their home court in the Italian Serie A finals.
As was the case in game one, the match was very tight, and neither team managed to gain a significant lead. Although Milan led by five points at one stage, this did not guarantee a stable advantage.
In the second quarter, Luca Banchi’s team responded after being down by 13, elevated their defense, and went into halftime with a one-point lead.
Virtus continued in the same rhythm in the third quarter, and it seemed that the home team was getting better as time went on. With a masterful performance on both ends of the court, they reached a nine-point lead midway through the fourth quarter, putting Ettore Messina‘s team in a difficult position.
This cushion was enough for Virtus, who closed out the game routinely, thus tying the series.
The main contributor to this victory was Tornike Shengelia with 21 points, while Jordan Mickey added 11. The visiting team was led by Donta Hall and Nikola Mirotic, each scoring 13 points. Shavon Shields and Shabazz Napier, who dominated in the first game, managed only five and seven points, respectively.
The series now moves to Milano. The champion will be the team that secures four wins.
