The Philadelphia 76ers managed to defeat the New York Knicks by 106:112, with the brilliant Tyrese Maxey emerging as the hero.
The New York Knicks had a great opportunity to secure a spot in the next NBA playoffs round in front of their home crowd. However, it wasn’t meant to be as they squandered a big chance. The Philadelphia 76ers started the game strong, especially on defense, allowing only 17 points to the home team and taking a nine-point lead into the first break.
In the second quarter, we saw a much-improved performance from the Knicks, with their offense significantly better. Excellent ball movement and capitalizing on every defensive mistake from their opponents gave them a six-point lead at halftime.
The back-and-forth battle continued into the third quarter, leading to a dramatic finish. It seemed like the New York Knicks had everything under control and were about to secure advancement, as they held a six-point lead with 30 seconds remaining.
However, Tyrese Maxey first hit a three-pointer with a foul, followed by Josh Hart making just one free throw, and then Maxey tying the game with another three-pointer to force overtime. There, a 9-0 run led by Maxey and Joel Embiid secured a crucial victory for the visiting team.
Tyrese Maxey was the top scorer for the winning team with 46 points, setting a career playoff record. Joel Embiid recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Tobias Harris added 19 points as well. On the other side, Jalen Brunson scored 40 points, Josh Hart contributed 18 points, and OG Anunoby had 17.
The next game will be played on May 3rd at 3:00 AM.
