USA national team secured their second victory at the FIBA World Cup, this time defeating Greece by 109-81.
Greece had a better start, lead by Georgios Papagiannis, but the USA took control of the game towards the end of the quarter, establishing a lead. With a 13-0 run, Steve Kerr team took their opponent out of rhythm, leading 50-37 at halftime.
Midway through the third quarter, the USA extended their lead to 20 points (63-42), making it clear that they were on their way to a triumph. Dimitris Itoudis team lacked the strength to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, resulting in a convincing defeat of 109-81.
The top scorer for Greece was Papagiannis with 17 points, while Austin Reaves stood out for the team lead by head coach Kerr with 15 points.
The USA remains the leader in Group C with two wins, while Greece and New Zealand have a 1-1 record. Jordan sits at the bottom of the table with two losses.
In the next match, Itoudis’ team will play against New Zealand, while the USA will face the Jordan national team on August 30th.
