Vanja Marinkovic is officially the first addition to the roster of Belgrade’s black-and-whites in coach Zeljko Obradovic’s basketball mosaic.
What has been speculated for some time has now reached its final act. The youngest captain in the history of Partizan will once again wear the black-and-white jersey. After eight years with Partizan, he left for Valencia in 2019, and then two seasons later moved to Baskonia where he played until the end of last season.
In the EuroLeague, he averaged 11 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in just over 25 minutes per game. He bid farewell to Baskonia with a message on social media a month ago.
Marinkovic made his debut for Partizan’s first team in 2013 under coach Dusko Vujosevic. He was given the captain’s armband at just 17 years old, a privilege bestowed upon him by Petar Bozic.
After a season that ended without trophies for Partizan, it was clear that Zeljko Obradovic and the coaching staff would embark on a team reconstruction. Vanja Marinkovic’s signing marks the beginning of their offseason roster changes, with more arrivals expected to follow.
