Vasilije Micic made his first start for the Charlotte Hornets after joining from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It was a significant NBA night for the Serbian player. Micic, starting for the first time in a Charlotte jersey, played a solid game in the loss to the Toronto Raptors by 111:106. He spent 35 minutes on the court, scoring 12 points and leading the team with six assists. Additionally, he grabbed two rebounds.
The Charlotte Hornets had a strong first quarter but experienced a downturn in the second quarter, allowing the Raptors to dictate the pace and enter halftime with a four-point lead. Toronto continued their momentum into the third quarter, further solidifying their advantage, which they maintained until the end of the game.
RJ Barrett was the top scorer for the winning team with 23 points and nine rebounds. He was closely followed by Immanuel Quickley with 22 points and 11 assists. For the Charlotte Hornets, Brandon Miller contributed 26 points along with 10 rebounds.
In an earlier time slot, the Golden State Warriors suffered one of their toughest defeats in history, this time against the Boston Celtics by 140:88.
It’s hard to put into words what we witnessed in Massachusetts. The question of the winner was almost settled after just 12 minutes of play, as the Celtics led 44:22 after the first quarter. That lead doubled by halftime, making it clear that an epic disaster was looming for the Warriors.
The lead extended to a maximum of +56 early in the third quarter when head coach Joe Mazzulla decided to rest the starters and give playing time to players with fewer minutes. However, even the reserves showed no mercy as Boston recorded its third most convincing win in franchise history.
The top scorer for the winning team was Jaylen Brown, who scored 29 points, while Jayson Tatum added 27. They spent only 47 minutes combined on the court. On the other side, reserve Lester Quinones scored 17 points. The embarrassment for the Warriors is evident from the fact that Steph Curry finished the game with only four points, shooting 0 for 9 from three-point range.
