Greek coach Vassilis Spanoulis will leave Peristeri and seek a new club, it was officially announced recently.
Spanoulis also cited the reasons for parting ways with the team he successfully led for two seasons, reaching the final stages last season in the FIBA Champions League.
“The management has decided not to continue with the plan we had. It’s a move we should respect. I felt blessed to have started my coaching career right here,” Spanoulis stated.
One of the greatest legends of Greek basketball, despite parting ways with Peristeri, won’t have the calmest summer, as he faces Olympic qualification duties as the coach of Greece.
Not only that, but Spanoulis is also a potential candidate for the head coaching position at Baskonia, as recently reported by Sportando.
The team from Vitoria parted ways with Dusko Ivanovic after less than a season, and Jaka Lakovic was also considered as a successor to the Montenegrin coach, but it’s uncertain whether that will happen due to Barcelona’s interest.
