Vassilis Spanoulis will be the new head coach of the Greek national team, which was left without a head coach after Dimitris Itoudis resigned.
Greece parted ways with head coach Dimitris Itoudis following the FIBA World Cup, and it is expected that Vassilis Spanoulis will replace him at the helm of the national team, as reported by Sport24.
It is believed that the official announcement will be made on Monday.
After finishing the World Cup in 15th place, Greece and Itoudis decided to go their separate ways. After just one year as the head coach of Peristeri, the Olympiacos legend is reportedly set to take over the Greek national team.
The collaboration is expected to last for the next two years, covering the 2024 Olympic Games if they qualify through the pre-Olympic tournament, as well as Eurobasket 2025.
Spanoulis has made significant contributions to top European clubs, with notable stints at Panathinaikos and Olympiacos in the EuroLeague, where he achieved multiple championships and earned a reputation as one of the most clutch performers in the league’s history. His international accomplishments include representing Greece in various FIBA competitions, notably helping the national team win the European Championship in 2005.
