Vassilis Spanoulis, the head coach of Peristeri, spoke after the game against Tenerife in the FIBA Champions League Final Four.
Spanoulis didn’t manage to reach the final of the competition, as they were defeated by their opponents in a close finish.
“We expected this kind of game. It was a tough game, sometimes we controlled the game, sometimes we had some careless turnovers. We were down by two with 50 seconds left, now I’ve seen the clips on my laptop. There were two or three situations that weren’t fouls at all, and they got six free throws from them.
We fought hard, they have Marcelinho Huertas and Kyle Guy, who scored a lot of points due to miscommunication. I’m happy with everything, this is a historic success for my club, thanks to the fans. We’ll use this as a lesson. The problem was defense, we gave up 97 points, and three players scored a lot,” Vassilis Spanoulis emphasized.
Could he have changed something?
“We did everything; there were some things we couldn’t allow. Basketball is a game of mistakes. We’ll improve.”
He received a technical foul in the final moments.
“You can’t call such a foul, but everyone makes mistakes. It was too much for that moment,” concluded the Greek coach.
Tenerife awaits the winner of the Murcia – Unicaja duel in the final.
