Reyer Venezia has issued a statement regarding the situation concerning Brazilian center Bruno Caboclo, who has yet to arrive in Italy despite having a signed contract with the Serie A club.
The Brazilian did not board the flight he was supposed to on Thursday and has cut off all communication with Venezia.
The president of the Italian club, Federico Casarin, in a public statement, revealed that Caboclo is in contact with the Israeli team Maccabi Raanana, but that Partizan is also interested in him.
“We cannot confirm whether he has joined the team in Israel, and there have been rumors suggesting a potential move to Partizan,” Casarin commented on the unusual situation and continued:
“However, we want to clarify that we have taken formal legal steps by communicating through our lawyers with all basketball leagues. We strongly discourage any club from counting on his services, as Caboclo remains under contract with our organization.“
According to reports from Israeli media, the 27-year-old center is ready to participate in a tour of the United States with Maccabi Raanana, a team that will play friendly games against the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
It seems that Bruno Caboclo intends to seize this opportunity to secure an NBA or EuroLeague contract.
However, in the contract that Venezia signed with this player, there is no release clause, which means he cannot participate in any friendly games without the approval of his current team.
Caboclo was impressive at the FIBA World Cup, averaging 16.2 points and 9.2 rebounds in the “Carioca” jersey. Brazil’s journey in the World Cup ended against Latvia in the second group stage.
Caboclo joined Reyer Venezia from Germany, where he won the Bundesliga title with Ulm last year and was part of the Bundesliga’s Best Five.
