Asvel has achieved its second victory in the EuroLeague, as it triumphed over Alba in Berlin with a score of 68:74 in the eighth round of the EuroLeague.
Asvel dominantly opened the game with a series of 14:6. The protagonist of this series was Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who scored a quick nine points. However, Gianmarco Pozzecco’s team did not stop there. By the end of the first quarter, the French team reached a lead of 28:13.
At the start of the second quarter, the “young talents” in the Alba team showed signs of life. Gabriele Procida had a brilliant dunk in the 11th minute of the match, sparking Alba to make a comeback. Israel Gonzalez’s team managed to reduce the lead to just two points towards the end, but Nando De Colo spoiled the party in Berlin by hitting two consecutive three-pointers at the end of the first 20 minutes, making it 35:43.

However, the team from Berlin did not lose spirit, and after the first half, they played much more decisively, both in defense and offense, winning the third quarter 20:10. With this dominant performance, the hosts entered the fourth quarter with a one-point lead.
However, the situation changed there. Alba struggled in offense, while Asvel regained the lead. In the closing moments of the game, Berlin managed to come within one point, 68:69, but Sterling Brown missed both attempts to bring his team back into the lead. The most prominent addition to Alba this summer had his worst game of the season so far, shooting 1/12 from the field (1/9 from three-point range).
The most efficient player for Asvel was Luwawu-Cabarrot with 19 points, followed by Nando De Colo with 16 points and Youssoupha Fall, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
For Alba, Johannes Thiemann was consistently the best and the only one in double figures with 16 points and five rebounds.
Asvel now holds a 2-6 record in the EuroLeague, while Alba is still on one victory in eight played matches.
