Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued his traditions and special gifts for his teammates before the start of the new season in the NBA.
In addition to his teammates, the Greek star gifted a new series of special “Greek Freak” sneakers to all the people who are in some way employed by the Milwaukee Bucks. His teammates were thrilled, and Damian Lillard, despite having his own basketball shoe brand, received his gift.
“I do this every year! This is ‘Freaky time.’ Be sure to get me your gifts too,” Giannis Antetokounmpo told his new teammate.
Furthermore, even the office staff received their surprises. One lady was taken aback by receiving sneakers in her favorite color. The charming Greek simply smiled and said he listens to what people talk about.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks had an outstanding regular season last year. They finished first in the Eastern Conference with a record of 58-24. However, their playoff performance was disappointing as the defending champions from the 2020/2021 season were eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Miami Heat.
Despite consistently being among the top three teams in the Eastern Conference for the past five years, including three first-place finishes in the regular season, significant changes occurred in the team during the summer. Mike Budenholzer left, and Adam Griffin was appointed as the new head coach.
That’s not the only change. The big “boom” happened when Damian Lillard became the new player for the Bucks in a trade. Much is expected from the former Portland star to lead the team alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo to the top of the league.
Looking back at the previous season, Giannis Antetokounmpo once again led the team, averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. He also made a significant defensive contribution, as he has done throughout his career. Jrue Holiday was the second most important player on the team with 19.3 points and 7.4 assists, but he changed teams during the summer and ended up in Boston.
Khris Middleton had a slightly less productive season by his standards, but both he and Brook Lopez made important contributions to the team’s games. They are both expected to continue doing so in the upcoming season, as well as the ever-reliable Bobby Portis.
Mike Budenholzer was known for getting the best out of each of his players. On the other hand, Griffin is highly regarded and considered one of the better assistants in recent seasons. Now, he has the opportunity to prove himself on the big stage. Milwaukee will undoubtedly be a top team in the regular season, but with the roster they have, anything less than an Eastern Conference finals appearance would be considered a disappointment.
