Maccabi defeated Milano on the road with a score of 98-90, in the context of the EuroLeague and the second round of the competition
It was clear that this duel would be extremely demanding for Maccabi, considering the situation they were in. On the other hand, the ‘Pride of Israel’ had a very quality opponent in front of them. Milano started excellently on offense, with Nikola Mirotic leading the Italian club, which gradually built its lead. Mirotic was also involved in the most interesting sequence in the first quarter when he missed a dunk from a very favorable position.

In the second quarter, Ettore Messina’s team continued with a high pace and excellent offense. After Shavon Shields’ points, they took a 10-point lead. However, Bonzie Colson and Antonius Cleveland made sure that Maccabi didn’t give up so easily. The end of the half belonged to them, so the visiting team went into halftime with just a two-point deficit.

Lorenzo Brown demoralized Milano
The end of the first half was a hint of what was to come. The third quarter was marked by a back-and-forth battle, with Lorenzo Brown giving Maccabi the lead in the middle of the period. Milano responded, but the visiting team entered the last 10 minutes slightly more satisfied, as Jasiel Rivero played brilliantly.
Things started to get more complicated for the home team when Oded Kattash’s team, thanks to excellent defense, scored in transition and gained a five-point lead with six minutes left in the game. Shields and Mirotic didn’t allow the opponent to take a full prize from Milan, so the game entered the final moments with a half-point lead for the visitors. However, a complete drama was avoided as Brown took responsibility, delivering points and assists to defeat the rival, leading Maccabi to a valuable ‘break.’
The top scorer for the winners was Rivero with 21 points, while Brown added 20 points and 12 assists. Mirotic led the home team with 24 points.
In the next round, Milano will host Monaco, while Maccabi will face Bayern.
