Virtus defeated Milano at home by 84:75 in the derby of the 22nd round of the Serie A, which is taking place these days.
In the opening quarter, the team from Bologna was efficient and scored 24 points. The guests couldn’t keep up, so they trailed behind. The same picture was seen in the second quarter, with Virtus gaining a 10-point lead before halftime.
It was evident at those moments that Luka Banchi’s team was closer to victory, despite Shabazz Napier playing an excellent game throughout and bringing hope back to Milano.
The second half was played in complete equality. This suited Virtus more, as they led throughout, reaching a maximum lead of plus 15 in the middle of the third quarter.
Although Milano managed to reduce the deficit to minus seven at the beginning of the fourth quarter, they couldn’t go beyond that, so the home team came out on top.
Marco Belinelli with 17 points and Iffe Lundberg with 16 points were most responsible for the victory. The guests were led by Napier with 24 points and nine assists, while Nikola Mirotic added 14 points.
