Vlade Djurovic analyzed the defeats of Partizan and Crvena Zvezda in the 10th round of the EuroLeague on Arena Sport.
The experienced Serbian expert emphasized the poor defensive performance of the black and white team, who conceded 100 points in Istanbul.
Partizan needs to play much better defense. Their defense is terrible, it was like that last year, and it’s the same this year! They don’t keep opponents below 90 points anywhere, whether it’s in the ABA League or the EuroLeague. Without defense and rebounds, you can’t play.
I think Zeljko Obradovic can create some surprise with Bruno Caboclo. He should play more than before because obviously, with Frank Kaminsky, there’s no defense. Kaminsky can score a bit, but he concedes more than he scores, putting the team at a disadvantage.
Vlade Djurovic also touched on the performance of P.J. Dozier, who has been delivering solid performances since joining the black and white team.
“Dozier is modest both in behavior and in the game. Obviously, everyone has noticed, even those who know less about basketball, that Dozier is a good player. He knows how to pass the ball, dribble, plays solid defense, the most solid in Partizan. He can make three-pointers, knows how to penetrate, make alley-oop passes.”
The former coach of Crvena Zvezda also commented on the performance of Rokas Giedraitis, characterizing him as a player with poor shooting mechanics.
“Even Giedraitis, he doesn’t play well in tough games. He plays better at home than away, but even at home when it’s tough, he’s not at his best. For example, I’ve never said this before, but I don’t like his shooting mechanics. Not only does he shoot from his head, but his elbow is never extended when shooting.
Great shooters always have to have their elbow extended, and their fingers follow the ball until it enters the basket. He doesn’t have that. He’s Lithuanian, he’s a shooter, he played in strong leagues… But I didn’t see that in Crvena Zvezda, he’s not a shooter if he shoots 2/6 or 2/7, that’s not a true shooter.”
Djurovic emphasized that Crvena Zvezda needs to do something about their gameplay, not just seek support from the fans.
“I see some statements before the game, many players from Crvena Zvezda, and even the coach, which surprised me, are asking for the support of the crowd. Well, that cannot be asked for, that support comes naturally. The audience comes to help; they can’t do more. And we are like, ‘Come on, more!’ Well, you also have to do something on the court.”
