Wade Baldwin feels at home in Israel, and he would like to give back to the country by playing for the national team.
This season, Wade Baldwin will stay with the same team for the first time in five years. Israel has become a home for the player, and he wants to repay the country.
Recognized as one of the best guards in Europe, Baldwin played his best basketball last year, averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game for a 17.6 PIR in the EuroLeague while wearing the Maccabi Tel Aviv jersey.
Before joining Maccabi, the 27-year-old changed teams three times in three years. Now, he’s staying in the same country and would love to fulfill his desire to play for the national team.
“I would love to play for the Israeli team. I know they need a player, and I want to be a part of it,” Baldwin said in an interview with Israel Hayom.
“I am very open to the possibility of playing for the national team. It would be wonderful if it could happen here in Israel because this feels like home to me.“
Currently, Baldwin’s status at the start of the season is uncertain, as Maccabi announced that he will miss the first round of EuroLeague and the match against Partizan.
