Willy Hernangomez, the center for Barcelona, spoke about his return to European basketball in an interview with BasketInside.
The Spanish player returned to Europe after spending several years in the NBA. He originally comes from Real Madrid but is now with Barcelona. He began by explaining why he chose to join Blaugrana.
“Real Madrid had my rights, but they didn’t decide to match the offer, while Barcelona gave me the opportunity to be in a good place and in a good situation for me. Of course, I want to thank Real Madrid because they gave me the chance to play, grow, learn, and play as a professional, but they simply didn’t want me. I feel more at home in New Orleans where I spent three years than in some other cities,” Willy Hernangomez stated.
In the continuation, he spoke about Sergio Scariolo, whom he singled out as his favorite coach.
“We’ve been together for so many years. I think we have an excellent relationship. He always pushes me hard because he truly believes in me. Maybe in the future, we will be together, as a player-coach, longer than those 3-4 months with the national team.”
