Venezia pulled off a major surprise in the 12th round of Serie A. Neven Spahija’s team defeated Virtus in Bologna with a score of 85:84 after overtime.
The game was evenly matched until the middle of the first quarter. With a 10:0 run, the visitors gained a 13-point lead. In the second period, Virtus showed better performance, attempting to turn the game around in various ways. However, after the first half, Spahija’s team led 40:35.
At the beginning of the second half, Venezia played better, once again establishing a double-digit lead with a 12-point advantage. By the end of the third quarter, the home team closed the gap and approached within two points. Despite the guests leading 77:68, the Bologna team managed to come back, and thanks to Tornike Shegelia‘s points, they forced the game into overtime.

In the additional five minutes, a fierce battle unfolded with defenses dominating on both sides. The guests led 85:84 when Tornike Shengelia took the shot for his team’s triumph, but it was not successful.
Rayjon Tucker led his team to victory with 25 points, while Marco Belinelli on the other side scored 29. This marks the ninth triumph of the season for Venezia, and their next opponent will be Brescia. Virtus suffered its fourth defeat and will face Pistoia in the next round.
Brescia secured a victory on the road against Reggio Emilia with a score of 77:70. Miro Bilan played an outstanding match, contributing 24 points, while Kevin Hervey on the opposing side had 17 points.
