The upcoming Olympic Games in Paris does not include referees who officiate in the EuroLeague.
FIBA has announced a list of 40 referees, and from this list, 30 will be selected for the Games to officiate the men’s and women’s tournaments.
The majority on the list have experience officiating at recent major events – the FIBA Basketball World Cup, FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, or the Olympic Games. Many have worked at three of these events.
Nineteen referees officiated at the Olympic Games in Japan, 32 at last year’s World Cup, 11 at the Women’s World Cup in Australia 2022, and 22 at the World Cup in China 2019.
Eight female referees
There are 29 different nationalities represented, with eight female referees, which is an increase compared to the number at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, confirming FIBA’s strategic priority, Women in Basketball, to develop and increase female officials.

The referees will participate in an intensive 14-week preparatory program, which includes video analysis, physical training, mental readiness, and team training. A three-day intensive pre-competition camp will be held in Belgium shortly before the start of Paris 2024.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, and the basketball tournaments’ group stage will be played in Lille.
