Yam Madar, new player of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, speaks about first two matches on pre-Olympics tournament.
The Israeli national team moved closer to the next stage of pre-Olympic tournament qualifiers by beating the Czech Republic 80-67 on Sunday. In the first round they won against North Macedonia. They can still advance even if they lose from Estonia by up to 23 points in tomorrow’s game at 19:00. The next stage will be held in Poland and the team will have achieved their initial goal.
Israel is entering this tournament without several key players, namely Deni Avdija, Tomer Ginat, and Tamir Blat, who are the most notable names missing from their lineup. EuroLeague Rising Star from past season had to step up and take on the responsibility of leading his team alongside Roman Sorkin to the next phase.
“I’m happy, I think we played two good first games,” Yam Madar said after the victory over the Czech Republic. “We are in a very good situation and in a good position to qualify, which is where we aimed as a team, I hope we can finish the job. The guys, those who came, like to be with each other, enjoy playing with each other, and wish each other success, there is an excellent spirit and a good atmosphere in the team It’s fun to be here.
The goal was to have a good tournament, the initial goal was to advance to the stage,we need to continue to the third game.” Madar stated for an Israeli portal Walla.
