Japan played their first match at the FIBA World Cup during the first day, but Yuta Watanabe was not satisfied.
The World Cup returned to Asia this year. Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia have taken over the organization, but now the first disgruntled ones have come forward, and that’s exactly from the ranks of the organizers. Namely, Japan played its first match against Germany, and the team’s first star – Yuta Watanabe, announced on Twitter after the match:
“Tickets for the game held yesterday were completely sold out. And I heard that there were many people who wanted tickets but couldn’t get them. I don’t understand why the seats in front of the team benches were empty.
It seems to be an adult situation, but if you’re going to hand out tickets to people who won’t come, you should sell them to fans who really want to attend the game.“
Watanabe finished the first game with a team-high 20 points and 6 rebounds. Despite his great game, Japan found themselves outmatched by Germany, facing an 81-63 defeat. Their next game is against Finland. That game is scheduled for Sunday.
