Zalgiris convincingly defeated Mazeikiai on their home court by 95:68 in the 28th round of the Lithuanian Basketball League.
It was clear who would come out as the winner after the first quarter. Zalgiris played excellent defense, while everything clicked on offense, leading to a 31:7 lead after the first ten minutes. There were no uncertainties throughout the game. Andrea Trinchieri’s team maintained their lead routinely, and Mazeikiai only managed to reduce the deficit to less than 20 points once.
Laurynas Birutis led Zalgiris to win with 16 points, while Edmond Sumner added 15. For Mazeikiai, Chauncey Collins was the top scorer with 16 points, followed by Alex Antetokounmpo with 13.
The team from Kaunas maintains their first place routinely, currently with 24 wins and only three losses. On the other hand, Mazeikiai is in seventh place with a record of 11-17.
In the next round, Zalgiris will host Nevezis, while Mazeikiai will visit Lietkabelis.
