Zalgiris found solace in the Lithuanian basketball league after a EuroLeague defeat against Partizan, dominating Mazeikiai by 103:75.
The team from Kaunas opened the game with a 7:0 run, signaling their strong desire for win. As time passed, their lead continued to grow, and by halftime, the scoreboard at the “Zalgirio Arena” displayed a score of 49:31. It became evident early on that this game was heading in a one-sided direction, with Zalgiris securing a convincing win as anticipated.
Lukas Lekavicius led the winning team with 20 points, being the top scorer in the victorious lineup. Arnas Butkevicius and Brady Manek contributed 11 points each. Keenan Evans did not play due to rest, and other key players had minimal playing time. Martynas Paliukenas scored 16 points for the opposing team.
With this triumph, Zalgiris maintains the top position in the standings with a record of 16-2, while Rytas follows closely with a record of 15-2, having played one game less.
Zalgiris now faces two EuroLeague games, both at home, against Anadolu Efes and Panathinaikos. In the next round of the domestic championship, they will host Juventus. Mazeikai, on the other hand, will be on the road in the next round, facing Jonava.
In the second game of the day, Siauliai defeated Nevezis by 85:77 on their home court.
