Zalgiris took a 1-0 lead in the Lithuanian Basketball League semifinal series after defeating Lietkabelis 93:72 in Kaunas.
Nenad Canak’s team never led at any point in the Zalgirio Arena. After the first 10 minutes, Zalgiris had already built a 19-point lead, which they managed to maintain throughout the game. Lietkabelis managed to reduce the deficit to two possessions a few times, but Andrea Trinchieri’s team reestablished a significant lead in the fourth quarter and comfortably secured the win.
The Italian coach efficiently distributed playing time among his players, with Keenan Evans emerging as the top scorer with 15 points. For Lietkabelis, Gediminas Orelik was the most effective with 22 points, while Djordje Gagic contributed 16 points and seven rebounds.
The second game is scheduled for May 23 in Panevėžys (5:30 PM), with a potential deciding game set for May 26.
