In the 23rd round of the Lithuanian Basketball League, Zalgiris secured a win on the road against Lietkabelis by 83:77, marking their 21st win of the season in the championship.
Right from the start, Zalgiris appeared as the stronger and more serious team. Although Lietkabelis managed to gain a 6-point lead in the first quarter, Zalgiris responded with a 12:0 run. By halftime, Andrea Trinchieri’s team had built a double-digit lead, which they routinely maintained throughout the rest of the game. Lietkabelis attempted to mount a comeback, but the team from Kaunas thwarted their efforts and deservedly emerged victorious.
Leading the way for Zalgiris was Lukas Lekavicius with 14 points, closely followed by Keenan Evans with 13. Only Dovydas Giedraitis also reached double figures with 11 points. The issue for Nenad Canak’s team was that only two players were in form. Deividas Sirvydis had an outstanding performance with 23 points, and Gediminas Orelik contributed 20 points.
Zalgiris remains in first place with a record of 21-2, while Lietkabelis currently sits fourth with 13 wins and 10 losses.
In the second game of the day in the Lithuanian League, Neptunas secured a home win against Mazeikai by 91:89.
Leading Neptunas to win was Azuolas Tubelis with 27 points, supported by Martynas Pacevicius with 15 points. In the visiting team, the top performers were Martynas Gecevicius with 19 points and Giedrius Staniulis with 16 points.
Following this game, Neptunas occupies the sixth position with a record of 11 wins and 12 losses, while Mazeikai is just below them with 10 wins and 13 losses.
