Renowned basketball player Zarko Paspalj emphasized that the ABA League is a salvation for regional basketball.
Paspalj had nothing but praise for the regional championship, which was somewhat shaken by the session of the Assembly of the Basketball League of Serbia, during which it was announced that a Serbian professional league would be formed in two years, and that this league would provide access to European competitions.
“I think I’ve repeated it many times because I truly believe it: the ABA League is a salvation for regional basketball. I believe that good work is being done, and the league is excellently organized.
We now have a situation where finances are in good shape, which is a fundamental step for the competition to function. Everything else depends on the teams, as this is their competition, so everyone needs to show their commitment. It can only get better if the teams have a genuine attitude towards this competition,” said Paspalj.
The ABA League Super Cup is currently underway, and on the first day of the competition, victories were recorded by Igokea, Partizan, Buducnost, and SC Derby.
“Clubs haven’t reached their peak form yet, so there might be surprises. I certainly expect the most from Buducnost and Partizan. It’s possible that we won’t see the best basketball because of the current circumstances, but this is a good opportunity to get acquainted with new players. It will be interesting, without a doubt,” stated Zarko Paspalj.
