Zeljko Obradovic, the head coach of Partizan, shared his expectations ahead of the EuroLeague Round 34 game against Valencia.
Trophy-winning expert says he will remain focused solely on his team and the upcoming opponent, despite the fact that Partizan will need Crvena Zvezda’s triumph in Istanbul to advance to the next phase of the competition.
“I’ve dedicated my whole life solely to myself and my players, and that won’t change this time either. I think that’s the only way, there’s no reason to change anything,” said Zeljko Obradovic, then turned his attention to Valencia’s team:
“We’re playing in front of our fans, to thank them once again for the incredible atmosphere they’ve created, which everyone has recognized. Valencia has changed their coach, they’ve performed exceptionally well in the Liga Endesa, they easily defeated Baskonia.
It’s obvious that the change suited the players, I have no doubt they will be highly motivated to perform well here. We know everything about them, they have quality, they play very aggressively. It was clear to us that we have to play aggressively there, I hope we will do the same this time.”
The stands of the Belgrade Arena will be filled to the last seat regardless of the result in Istanbul.
“Of course, it means a lot. We are proud that Partizan has been pushing the boundaries in the Europe for three years now. When I said it’s important for Partizan to return to the EuroLeague and become a permanent member. If someone had thought that back then, they would have thought it wasn’t realistic, but because of the fans, everything has changed. Everyone recognizes that, the games have become an attraction, I thank them once again for everything they do for Partizan, and I hope they will continue to do so in the future.”
P.J. Dozier will not be in the Partizan team.
“He didn’t train, and he certainly won’t be in the team for Valencia,” the experienced coach briefly stated.
The game between Partizan and Valencia will be played on Friday, starting at 20:30.
