The famous “OAKA” and Panathinaikos want to reach the EuroLeague Final Four, and the first step on that path is Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Although everything indicated that the “Greens” of Athens would celebrate after an incredible first half and a 12-point advantage in the sequel, the “Pride of Israel” showed character and with a phenomenal game in the end staged a turnaround to win by 91:87.
In fact, coach Ataman’s team hit all 11 shots inside the three-point line, which at first glance sounds unreal, especially when you consider Maccabi Tel Aviv’s interior line. The most responsible for that is Mathias Lessort, who hit all four attempts. Luca Vildoza also had his own show with three consecutive triples.
Kostas Sloukas
The Greek veteran played another very good game, scoring 12 points with 13 assists for a new double-double performance. With this scoring performance, he became the eighth best scorer in the history of the competition. He is currently at 3,600 points, and he has overtaken another legend of Greek basketball – Georgios Printezis (3,599).
However, this is all a so-called “Pyrrhic win”, because Panathinaikos was defeated in the end. The key mistake in the finish was made by Sloukas when he was two points behind and attacked for a potential tie or lead.
