Alexey Shved, despite being linked to Crvena Zvezda and even announcing his arrival in Belgrade, failed to reach an agreement.
The Russian guard has signed a one-year contract with the Chinese team Shanxi Loongs, as confirmed by his manager, Obrad Fimic.
“A new country, a new league. Many well-known players are playing in China, and there is also a relatively short season that ends at the end of February or the beginning of March. After that, you can rest or sign a contract for the playoffs in one of the European leagues. So, China is a good option from all angles,” Fimic wrote on this occasion.
The Shanxi Loongs club was founded in 2001 and has changed its name multiple times over the years. Notably, Luis Scola and Stephon Marbury have played for the club at some point.
As for Alexey Shved’s team accomplishments, he won the EuroLeague with CSKA Moscow in 2008, along with two VTB League titles, one Super Cup, and four Russian championship titles.
