Zagars has signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahce and will spend the 2023/2024 season with the Lithuanian Wolves as a loaned player, announced the Turkish team.
Zagars had an excellent World Cup campaign.
Apart from contributing to his country’s effort to secure a fifth-place finish in their first-ever appearance in the leading FIBA event, he also became an intriguing free agent who attracted the interest of multiple teams.
The Latvian guard averaged 12.4 points, 7.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in eight appearances at the World Cup.
Among the key highlights of his impressive performances in Indonesia and the Philippines was setting a record for the most assists in a single World Cup game. Zagars surpassed Toni Kukoc with 17 assists in the fifth-place game against Lithuania.
