Milano’s basketball player, Kyle Hines, has announced that the upcoming season could be his last in his career.
Hines, who is 37 years old, is regarded as one of the best defenders in the history of European basketball in the center position. He’s atypical for a center, standing at just 198 centimeters.
“This could be the last season of my career. I’m not sure; there aren’t many American players of my age who are still playing at this level,” Hines said in an interview for Eurohoops.
Hines is a four-time champion when it comes to the EuroLeague. He climbed to the top of the Old Continent twice with Olympiacos and twice with CSKA.
“I love winning trophies with my teammates, going through the good and bad things that lead to those final moments. Those are the things I enjoy the most,” Hines said.
He then touched on his relationship with Ettore Messina, and from his words, it appears that the decision about retirement is not final.
“The coach and I understand each other very well. My family really enjoys Milano. We enjoy the way of life here, I enjoy my teammates and the club. I enjoy the success we’ve achieved. If it were up to me, of course, I would love to stay here as long as I can,” Hines stated.
The American center joined the Italian club in 2020 after spending eight years with CSKA. With Milan, he has yet to achieve significant European success, although Messina’s team came close to the final three seasons ago.
