Mario Hezonja is one of the most sought-after names on the market during this transfer window, and the story has now taken a new turn.
Initially, the Croatian international, after winning the title in the Endesa League, made a statement saying that he wants to win many more trophies with Real Madrid and somehow make up for the loss in the EuroLeague final to Panathinaikos.
Just two days after that, European media reported that he had reached an agreement with Barcelona, according to which he would earn 12 million euros over four years in Catalonia. However, it wasn’t long before this was also denied.
Marc Stein, a well-known figure in NBA circles, has shared the latest information suggesting that Mario Hezonja is working on a return to the world’s top basketball league.
“Mario Hezonja spent the last two seasons with Real Madrid and has become a free agent to watch during this summer break regarding a return to the NBA,” Stein wrote.
Given that there is still no agreement to extend his contract with Real Madrid, and Barcelona is clearly no longer an option, a logical question arises. Will another European club capitalize on the “Mario Hezonja saga,” or will he indeed return to the NBA, where he spent five years and played 330 games from 2015 to 2020?
