Adam Hanga, a player of Crvena Zvezda, announced that his season is most likely over due to a hand injury he sustained during practice.
Due to a fracture of the third metacarpal bone of his left hand, the Hungarian national team player will undergo examinations to determine whether the injury will be addressed surgically or through other means, as well as to provide more detailed information on how long Adam Hanga will be sidelined, Crvena Zvezda announced on Wednesday.
Hanga, who represents Hungary internationally, stated to nemzetisport that the season is most likely over for him.
“During practice on Tuesday, I received a blow to my hand in a rather innocuous situation. It was a struggle for the ball – my hand went up, and my teammate’s elbow went down. Unfortunately, my metacarpal bone is fractured. The season is most likely over for me,” said Adam Hanga.
Adam Hanga has already experienced injury
He also revealed that immediately after the injury, he consulted with a surgeon and inquired whether surgery could expedite his recovery, but the doctor advised that such intervention was unnecessary.
On Thursday, Hanga’s cast was removed, and a brace was applied, which is expected to remain on his hand for six to eight weeks, depending on the speed of his recovery.
Hanga has already experienced injury problems this season. He had a hiatus at the beginning of the season due to a knee injury, after which he took a long time to find his form. Lately, he has been playing excellently and has been one of the best players for the red and whites.
This season in the EuroLeague, the Hungarian representative averages 8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. In the ABA League, he has slightly lower averages, with 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.
