Codi Miller-McIntyre spoke in an interview with “SportNet” about his time spent at Partizan and his new engagement with the Baskonia team.
The American-born player played for the Belgrade black-and-whites during a period when the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasizes that he still follows the matches of the Serbian team.
“I followed Partizan last season, it was incredible. The fans were also amazing, and I watch and listen to that atmosphere with excitement and admiration. They are true basketball fans, they are the ones I show to my family and friends in America. However, I’m not sad that I couldn’t experience it while I was in the club. I believe everything happens for a reason, including that” emphasized the popular ‘Wolf’.
Miller-McIntyre talked about the situation when Greek team Panathinaikos offered him a contract while he was still playing for Partizan. He also mentioned another opportunity to play in the EuroLeague.
“This isn’t the first offer to play in the EuroLeague. I had a one-plus-one contract on the table from Panathinaikos while I was at Partizan, but I decided to stay. I also had an offer from Zenit for two seasons, where the first season would be in the EuroCup and the second in the EuroLeague. So I had two offers before this one,” said the former Wake Forest student.
He received an offer to play for the Bulgarian national team, and in making that decision, he was helped by a player from the same city as him.
“My agent proposed the possibility of playing for the Bulgarian national team to me. As you probably know, Dee Bost plays for Bulgaria, and he and I are from the same city. He was like a big brother to me here, we had a great relationship even before, and I wanted to play with him. It’s crazy that two kids from the same city in America are playing for Bulgaria,” highlighted Codi Miller-McIntyre.
About Baskonia
In the end, he talked about his new engagement with the Baskonia team and how he’s adapting to the team from the Basque region.
“The chemistry is incredible! The coaches, assistants, teammates, and everyone else in the club, they all come in every day with a smile on their face, ready for quality work. I feel like a part of the family here, I’ve really grown to love this environment. I have a good connection with everyone, and we get along great” concluded the new Bulgarian national team player.
