Montenegrin head coach Dusko Ivanovic could leave the bench of Baskonia at the end of the season, as reported by La Provincia.
Tonight at 8:30 PM, Dusko Ivanovic will face Virtus with his team from Vitoria in a crucial game for the playoffs in the EuroLeague.
If they lose this game, along with their mere ninth place in the Liga Endesa, it’s clear that the bench of the former Crvena Zvezda strategist would be seriously shaken. As mentioned by the same media, the replacement is already known – Baskonia has targeted the head coach of Gran Canaria, Jaka Lakovic.
Although the Slovenian coach has a contract until 2025, there is an option where Baskonia would negotiate the deal, but in that case, they would have to pay compensation to last season’s EuroCup champion.
Even there, things are not straightforward. Lakovic is, as reported by La Provincia, also on Barcelona’s radar, which for now, trusts Roger Grimau.
The biggest truth is that the outcome of everything is probably in the hands of Ivanovic himself and his results at the end of the season.
