Mathias Lessort appeared on the show “OPAP Game Time” and talked about Panathinaikos, his life in Greece, and the strong bond with the fans.
He discussed what he thinks the future holds for him and Panathinaikos:
“I hope it will be brilliant, we will bring many titles. My future is intertwined with the team. I wish a lot of success with the team, to win something and leave my mark,” said Mathias Lessort.
About the Panathinaikos fans:
“Great audience, they push us a lot. We have the season we have thanks to them, and as I said earlier, we don’t take it for granted and feel blessed.”
On what convinced him to sign for Panathinaikos: “The philosophy and the team’s project.”
Regarding where he thinks he would be more popular (Greece or Serbia) if he wins the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos:
“In Athens, it will be even crazier. I can’t even imagine how it will be. We need five wins, and we have to focus on ourselves to achieve something bigger. We have to take each game individually.“
He also spoke about the fans of their biggest rival, Olympiacos:
“I’ve never had anyone come aggressively towards me on the street without showing respect. Usually, they tell me they respect me. They also ask for a photo, and I’m happy because fans from other teams ask me for that.“
Panathinaikos will face Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague quarterfinals.
