Mathias Lessort responded to Nebojsa Covic via the social media platform X (Twitter) by sharing his side of the story.
As a reminder, Nebojsa Covic recently stated that Mathias Lessort was to blame for Dusan Alimpijevic not remaining as the head coach of Crvena Zvezda for a longer period.
“If Dusan Alimpijevic had been available, we would have brought him back. But you are aware of the injustice he faced, thanks to the unreasonable actions of Mathias Lessort, a former player of ours who is now a confirmed hater of Crvena Zvezda, which I regret. This changed the career of a very promising coach.
He had to leave, there were whistles, attacks, accusations, and he made an extraordinary career. He belongs to a group of a few promising coaches, there aren’t many of them that Serbian basketball can rely on. We didn’t have a choice, Ioannis [coach] does his job specifically, I have some reservations about foreign coaches. As for our success, don’t forget that we have a trophy, some don’t have any this season.”
Mathias Lessort quickly took to social media to assert that the head of Crvena Zvezda had attempted to ruin his career.
“Hahahaha… The guy talks as if he didn’t try to blackmail me throughout Europe, saying I’m a bad person, a bad teammate, blind, and all sorts of s*** he could come up with. I was only 22 years old, and he tried everything to ruin my career. But at the end of the day, he did me a favor,” the Frenchman wrote.
