Oded Kattash, the head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, spoke after his team’s loss against Panatathinaikos in the EuroLeague play-off game.
Kattash tried to achieve a second break on a very tough away court after winning the first encounter. However, he didn’t succeed, mainly due to the masterful performance of Kostas Sloukas and the “joker” Ioannis Papapetrou.
He also touched on Ergin Ataman’s actions and the creation of a certain atmosphere before the match. Will he change anything in his behavior?
“No. We do what we do, I am who I am. I won’t get into that. We will try to focus on basketball, I don’t think we, as a team and a club with a certain culture, need to do certain things.”
One of the journalists drew a parallel with Partizan’s championship season when they also played as guests most of the time.
“We’ll take that as a compliment. With everything we’ve been through, we show excellent stability both on and off the court. Whether we’re down by 17 or in another situation. This is a special group of guys. However, we want more. We’ll see what happens. I would love for all this to happen in front of our fans. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.”
It’s said that there will be 1,000 fans in Belgrade.
“It’s important for us. Even when we played in front of 300 fans against Baskonia, it was special. We’re going through tough times as a country, which makes these things important,” Kattash concluded.
The third game between Panathinaikos and Maccabi Tel Aviv will be played on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
