When it comes to injuries, the home team in this game only missed Luke Kornet, while the Miami Heat had much bigger problems. Due to injury, Jimmy Butler, Terry Rozier and Josh Richardson didn’t play.
The situation on the court, as has been the case for much of this NBA season, often becomes apparent within the first few minutes. The Boston Celtics‘ team immediately established dominance with a 14-0 lead, effectively quelling any doubts about the outcome of this game.
Throughout the first half they merely maintained that lead, which at one point stretched to an 18-point difference. They headed into halftime by 60:45 in favor of the Celtics, with Jayson Tatum leading the charge with 15 points at that juncture.
If you thought the Celtics would relax, you were mistaken. It’s as if they sent a message to Erik Spoelstra’s team to remember their elimination from last season’s Eastern Conference Finals. They extended the lead to 32 points, only to finish the job in the final quarter. Final score was 114:94 for the Boston Celtics.
The top scorers for the winners were Tatum with 23 points along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists, Derrick White with 22 points and Kristaps Porzingis with 18 points. Bam Adebayo led the defeated team with 24 points, Jaime Jaquez had 16 while Tyler Herro had 11 points.
The Boston Celtics now lead the series 1-0, with the next game scheduled for April 25th.
