CSKA Moscow ranks first overall in performance, while Monaco is fourth in the new EuroLeague format.
In the 2016/17 season, it was decided to introduce a new league format in the EuroLeague. The initial plan was for it to consist of 16 teams, with eight advancing to the playoffs. However, in the 2019/20 season, it was decided to expand the number of teams to 18. And starting from this season, we’ve also got the play-in, which gives teams that finished ninth and tenth the chance to reach the playoffs after two potential wins.
CSKA Moscow has the highest win percentage
When looking at the overall performance of all seasons so far, CSKA Moscow has the highest win percentage, with a record of 113-39 (74.34%). They are followed by Real Madrid with 70.16% and Barcelona with 61.69%, with Monaco very close behind with 61.45%.
As for Serbian teams, they failed to achieve their set goals this season. Partizan finished the season with a record of 16-18, which was enough for the eleventh position. Their eternal rival, Crvena Zvezda, had an even worse season, managing to gather only 11 wins and finishing as the 16th team in the EuroLeague.
However, if we look at all eight seasons since the league format was established, the Belgrade black and whites managed to break into the top 8 with a record of 36-32, or 52.94% wins. Ahead of them are only teams representing the cream of European basketball: Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos, Barcelona, Fenerbahce, Monaco, and Anadolu Efes.
As for Crvena zvezda, things aren’t quite as bright. They have a record of 88-130, participating in seven out of eight seasons in this EuroLeague format, and they occupy the 18th position on this “eternal” table. Behind them are also some notable names in European basketball: Bayern Munich, Asvel, Alba Berlin, Khimki, Darussafaka, Bamberg, Unics, Galatasaray, and Gran Canaria. Interestingly, the worst record on this list belongs to Budunost, which had a record of 6-24 (20% wins) in their only season of participation.
