D’Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers player, has been fined by the NBA for verbal abuse of a game official, it was confirmed today.
According to the NBA’s announcement, the incident occurred immediately after Game 5 in the series against the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers were defeated in that game, thus ending their entire season as the Nuggets won the series 4-1.
Russell has a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers for next season, but it’s a player option. It remains to be seen whether Lakes player will choose to opt out of that contract and become a free agent this summer.
D’Angelo Russell has had a season that is significantly better and more consistent than previous ones, at least in the regular season. He averaged 18 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds this season. However, he once again played quite poorly in the playoffs, and there were games when he couldn’t hit anything from the field against the Nuggets.
