Sasa Obradovic, the head coach of Monaco, spoke after his team’s win against Fenerbahce in the EuroLeague play-off game.
After the first game in which Monaco was defeated, coach Sasa Obradovic said that this series would be about his players showing character. They did just that in this game, overcoming a nine-point deficit in the final quarter for a win by 93:88.
“A good last quarter? (smile) We expected them to come out with great confidence, but I said this would be a game of character. We managed to show exactly that character. The only goal in Istanbul is to win,” said Sasa Obradovic, continuing:
“It’s not easy to play these kinds of games. You saw the shots they were hitting, truly unbelievable. They also executed special plays after timeouts, which wasn’t the case in the first game. We showed a completely different approach. We weren’t afraid of missing shots, we kept our focus until the end. Jordan Loyd showed why we missed him so much while he was injured.
He’s still not fully ready now, but he shows what kind of player he is. We must not forget to mention the great roles of the bench players. Donatas Motiejunas was also particularly dangerous, opening up space in the paint for other individuals.”
