Tyronn Lue, head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, spoke at the post-game press conference after their 101:90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
It was a very poor NBA playoff game for the Los Angeles Clippers. The team struggled to find solutions against the aggressive defense of the Mavericks. This led to tension towards the end of the game, where Russell Westbrook lashed out at Luka Doncic and then at P.J. Washington. Head coach Tyronn Lue emphasized that the team needs to channel their energy into other areas.
“We’ve got to channel our aggression in other ways. It’s getting chippy. I like the physicality. I like the tough possessions. I like all of that. But we’ve got to make sure we’re not getting the technical fouls, we’re not getting thrown out of the game, because everybody’s important.”
Mavericks held Paul George and Westbrook to a combined 1 of 10 from deep, while Kawhi Leonard didn’t even have a 3 attempt among just seven shots in 25 minutes.
“He’s trying to find his way back. We’re just managing it. Just being smart, making sure we do it right by Kawhi and seeing how he feels and just kind of gauge it from there“, Lue said.
